With the Redcar 'TLS/Simpson Racing UK' Cubs management having suffered the double blow of a broken femur for rising starlet Greg Blair and the retirement of David Wallinger - moves are afoot to reshuffle the squad and seek a new signing before the first away match of the Conference League campaign against the Boston Barracudas in a challenge fixture on Friday April 11th and home to the Buxton Hitmen on the afternoon of Saturday April 12th. Durham-based Steven Jones comes into the team to replace David Wallinger and his Grade 5 ranking means that Martin Emerson as a Grade 4 drops down to provide a very effective reserve. Steven is reported to have invested heavily in new equipment and is looking forward to this opportunity.
Efforts continue to identify a young British rider to replace 'Wee' Greg at number one but easier said than done at present. There are squad opportunities too and there will be regular junior mini-matches following the Redcar Bears Premier League fixtures on Thursday evenings at the South Tees Motorsport Park so Cubs manager would be pleased from aspiring racers who would like to showcase their talents on 07809736558.
One rider not likely to feature this season is Ingleby Barwick based Ashley Johnson. Ashley has suffered a series of injuries in recent seasons, including head trauma, and these have taken their toll. Commented Jason Pipe: 'I wish Ashley well in the future with whatever he decides to do and thank him for his services over the last few years.'
